After a break of a few months, I have come to the decision to end The Independent Characters Podcast.
I took a break for a few months due to work, inability to record and play with friends in person, and other personal obligations, but I have come to realize that the things getting in the way are just not going to lighten up soon.
Well, the COVID situation appears to be, but family remains paramount to me, and my work requires more attention than ever before with my "new" role.
I know this comes as a disappointment to many. Believe me when I say it is a bit of a disappointment to myself as well. But lifes challenges change frequently, and you never know what may happen.
I cancelled the show several years ago, only to return a year later. I cannot say that will not happen again, it may. It may not. I just cannot say at this time. But rather than leave everyone waiting to see what is going to happen, I decided to go ahead and put a period at the end of the sentence.
I am going to do ONE MORE episode - as soon as I can get a couple of the guys to record with me. There is one topic I still very much want to cover and we will do it within a few months. This will probably record in April.
So what does this mean for the various components surrounding the show?
The Patreon
The Patreon will be cancelled. I have not charged anyone who joined the Patreon for the last three months while we suspended operations. No one will be charged further. I will suspend all Patreon payments through April so if you wanted to listen to those special episodes up there, you can. But at the end of April it will go away. I want to thank all of our amazing Patreon Supporters. It has been an amazing experience and your support was absolutely incredible.
The Discord Channel
Honestly, I am not sure what to do here yet. I really do like the Discord channel and I may legacy the Patreon members with a special color to signify their support, a restricted channel for them, and then open up the rest of the channels to people. Let me know what you think.
The Facebook Group
The group will continue to be a great place to talk with other hobby members. We will continue to moderate it as we have done. We continue to expect the same tone and attitudes within the group. We continue to enjoy interacting with others there and we will continue to do so.
Again, I want to thank every listener that has ever given us a chance. The Independent Characters is something we are all so very proud of. I have said more than I ever expected to and I appreciate that everyone has come along for us on this amazing ride.
I will continue to play Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar, as well as attend great events like Adepticon and NOVA Open. I hope to see some of you there!
